Support of Global Environmental Conservation, We Sponsored a Gala Dinner Hosted by The Save The Reef Corporation
Our company, GIFT LIFE, proudly sponsored a charity gala dinner held at the Hotel Okura Tokyo on December 14, 2023. This event was organized by The Save The Reef Corporation, with the Swiss heritage watch brand "Eberhard" as the main sponsor. It was attended by 250 distinguished guests, including the Ambassador of Greece and his spouse, the special advisor and representative of NGO Earth Aid Society, Mrs. Dewi Sukarno, and members of the council.
The purpose of this gala dinner was to support activities aimed at protecting and regenerating coral reefs, which have been declining and deteriorating due to environmental stress caused by human activities, including global warming. Despite occupying only 0.1% of the Earth's surface area, the world's coral reefs are a treasure trove of biodiversity, home to 25% of marine fish species and approximately 90,000 species of life. These reefs not only serve as sources for fisheries but also play roles as natural breakwaters and important tourism resources.
The Save The Reef Corporation was established on June 5, 2023. Chaired by Mr. Rui Mugino, its goal is to ensure the beauty of coral reefs for the next 100 years by protecting and regenerating them through our current human efforts and passing these practices on to future generations. Through such initiatives, we contribute to the protection of coral reefs, supporting biodiversity.
A notable initiative is led by Mr. Koji Kinjo, head of the "Coral Field," Japan's largest coral cultivation facility, capable of nurturing 300,000 coral plants. By increasing the number of corals harvested under special permits and using only the cultured corals for transplantation, these transplanted corals can produce eggs after about two years of growth. This process marks the world's first instance of egg production from cultivated corals.
